Watson: "If he gets suspended, I've watched my last game of AFL."

2018-05-21T07:46+10:00

Former Essendon captain Tim Watson has threatened to stop watching the AFL if Lance Franklin is suspended for his contact with Fremantle defender Joel Hamling.

Franklin caught Hamling with an elbow while being tackled which subsequently left the defender concussed.

Watson has his eyes firmly on MRO Michael Christian.

“I want to go on record as saying, if he gets penalised in any way, I have watched my last game of AFL football,” he said.

“I tell you what, to be serious for one second, if we’re going down this track and going to penalise somebody for that incident, then our game has no place at all.”

Lyon agreed, with his colleague’s assessment.

“He was just in the process of trying to shrug tackles, that’s all that was,” he said.

“He had no intention of elbowing him in the head, I don’t think it was a fend off.”
