De Goey and Moore "indicated" they want to stay at Collingwood

Collingwood General Manager of Football Geoff Walsh has given an update on the contract situations surrounding young duo Jordan de Goey and Darcy Moore.

Moore has reportedly attracted a lot of interest from Sydney, while de Goey’s recent form has him in the crosshairs of every Victorian club.

Walsh said both players have specified they want to remain at the Pies.

“(Collingwood list boss) Ned Guy’s working through that, he’s met a couple of times with de Goey and Moore’s managers and certainly while they’re not going to be signed tomorrow, they’re both a fair way down the track in discussions,” he told SEN Evenings.

“The thing is both boys and their management have indicated they’re more than happy at Collingwood and they’re comfortable in not looking elsewhere and we fully endorse that.

“Both boys and their managers know they’re very much required players so we’d expect something will happen there sooner rather than later.”

Walsh said de Goey’s recent form will impact what they pay to re-sign him.

“He played a really good game last week and in general his form since he came into the side earlier in the year has been really strong so we would expect there wouldn’t be any hitches in us coming to a conclusions with Jordan and his management,” he said.

“We’ll respect the fact that he is playing well and that he does have a lot of upside when we’re talking figures with him.”

Collingwood small forward Alex Fasolo is expected to miss a large chunk of the season with an ankle injury and Walsh gave an update on his situation.

“Really disappointing for Alex, he came into the side after some strong form in the VFL, bided his time and after a promising start he went down with that unfortunate ankle injury and it looks like it’s a six to seven week one,” he said.

The Pies will take on the Western Bulldogs on Friday night at Etihad Stadium.
