Has a new Victorian club entered Sloane chase?

2018-05-30T07:41+10:00

The Herald Sun’s Sam Edmund says Hawthorn has entered the chase for out of contract Adelaide star Rory Sloane.

Sloane is a restricted free agent at the end of the season, with a slew of rival clubs lining up to try and secure his services.

According to Edmund, the Hawks are one of those teams, as Alastair Clarkson seeks to find his next premiership line-up.

SEN Breakfast with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson can be heard Monday-Friday 6-9am, and you can subscribe to the podcast here.

“Rory Sloane is being linked to big Victorian clubs, one in particular being Hawthorn, who despite landing some big fish in recent years, are not immune from these discussions,” he told SEN Breakfast.

Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon doesn’t think Sloane is the kind of player the Hawks need to rejuvenate their midfield.

“He is not the sort of player Hawthorn would want,” he said.

“They need fast midfield talent. I would want to have a look at my mix.”

However, Essendon great Tim Watson thinks the Hawks would welcome Sloane because he is “energetically quick.”
