Fyfe's suspension upheld

2018-06-05T18:24+10:00

Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe's appeal to overturn his one-week suspension has failed at the AFL tribunal tonight.

Fyfe was given a week for striking Collingwood’s Levi Greenwood during Sunday’s encounter at the MCG.

The 26-year-old is now ineligible to win this year’s Brownlow Medal having previously won the award in 2015.

The star midfielder was also ruled ineligable in 2014 due to suspension.

On top of the suspension, the Dockers will also receive a $10,000 fine for the failed appeal.

After learning his fate, Fyfe made the following statement to the waiting media.

"I’m disappointed by the result but I’m grateful for a fair hearing," Fyfe said.

It’s disappointing not to be with the team to face Adelaide this week but I’ll get ready to face Carlton."
