Melbourne based powerhouse interested in McVeigh

2018-06-05T10:28+10:00

Essendon is emerging as a potential home for Jarrad McVeigh next season, according to Garry Lyon.

Sydney coach John Longmire told SEN’s Crunch Time the Swans’ plans are for McVeigh to retire at the end of 2018.

However, the Herald Sun have linked McVeigh to the Gold Coast Suns, in a role similar to Luke Hodge’s in Brisbane.

The Suns aren’t the only team looking at McVeigh says Lyon, with the Bombers interested in the 33-year-old.

“My information says that Gold Coast aren’t the only club who are looking at Jarrad McVeigh as a very viable option in that role,” the former Melbourne captain told SEN Breakfast.

“A Melbourne based power club of old, out towards the Essendon area. The McVeigh family name is strong at Essendon.”

Bombers legend Tim Watson said he “hopes” his former club is looking at securing McVeigh’s services.

Suns CEO Mark Evans told SEN this morning the club would look at McVeigh, if they felt it would “fast track” the development of the young playing group.
