Bartlett labels Port Adelaide "ordinary" despite Richmond win

2018-06-09T13:31+10:00

Richmond legend Kevin Bartlett doesn’t believe Port Adelaide should be praised too much for their win over his Tigers last night.

The Power led for most of the night and ended up taking home a 14-point win at Adelaide Oval in what was a scrappy second half of footy.

Despite beating the reigning premiers, Bartlett wasn’t impressed with Port’s performance.

“They kicked one goal after half time, it was a pretty ordinary effort,” he told the AFL Nation pre-game show.

“The Tigers we know can play at a very high level, I’ve still got a question mark on Port Adelaide.

“Port Adelaide, if they didn’t beat the Tigers last night, they’d never beat them.

“I tipped them to finish top eight, but I’d be very surprised if they’re there on Grand Final day.”

Bartlett believes Richmond’s injury issues are exposing their underbelly.

“It was a disappointing effort by the Tigers, they’re starting to have a few injured players and a few players unavailable and a few players out of form,” he said.

“Jack Graham and Jacob Townsend from the Grand Final side have been dropped, Dion Prestia, Bachar Houli, Dylan Astbury went down, Dustin Martin’s not there and they just struggled last night to get any flow in their game.

“They had a terrific run with injuries last year and all of a sudden they’ve got to find a little bit of depth and they were found wanting in the game.”

The Tigers will take on Geelong at the MCG next Sunday, while Port Adelaide will host the Western Bulldogs on Thursday night.
