Former Gold Coast coach Rodney Eade believes the Suns are capable of standing on their own two feet despite their struggles since the club's inception.
The Suns have been belted by a combined total of 193-points in the past two weeks and with growing concerns about the future of co-captain Tom Lynch, the club’s future has been called into question.
Eade has urged for patience amid the negative commentary surrounding the expansion club.
“Do they (Gold Coast) need help? It depends what you want to give them,” he told SEN Afternoons.
“They’ve won three games, they’ve won more than Brisbane and Carlton.
“Because they’ve had a couple of bad weeks now we’re jumping on them, on the ladder they’re in front of St Kilda as well.
“Do I think they need help? No, I don’t think they need some help. But on the same token they’ve got to get some patience.
“I heard Tony (Cochrane) talk about the long term, I think that’s really up to the AFL as to how they’re going to measure it long term.
“I think they should be there, it helps footy in general.
“But I think if you asked supporters from other clubs whether they would be for the Suns getting drastic help in the draft, I think they would be against that.”
Gold Coast CEO Cochrane staunchly defended the embattled Suns on SEN’s Whateley this morning, ensuring they will survive and prosper in the future.
