Carlton forward Matthew Wright is “super confident” his side is developing quicker than the record suggests in 2018.
After winning just one of their opening 11 matches this season, the Blues sit on the bottom of the table, but that hasn’t disheartened Wright.
“We feel like we’re playing better footy than what the ladder is showing,” Wright told SEN Breakfast.
“We just haven’t been able to string it together for four quarters and that’s all part of our growth and getting better going forward.”
The Blues last made the finals in 2013 and they have spent time investing in the youth in recent years.
“We think we’ve got some pretty good players in the key posts for us,” Wright said.
“If we can keep developing the blokes that are coming through the system and are new to the system, then we reckon we’ve got all the pieces to the puzzle.
“We’ve just got to put it together for four quarters now – week in, week out.”
Wright will play his 150th AFL game on Saturday when the Blues meet Fremantle at Etihad Stadium.
