Fremantle footy boss comments on Jeremy McGovern link

2018-06-16T14:33+10:00

Fremantle Football Operations Boss Chris Bond said his club will be looking to add free agents in the coming off-season.

While their focus will remain on the draft, a player like Jeremy McGovern is on their radar.

“There’s no doubt Brad Lloyd and our list manager are working closely with everyone involved, not only Jeremy McGovern, but any person that fits into that bracket,” he told SEN’s Crunch Time.

“We’ll be in there having a go with any player that fits into our bracket.

“We’ve made no secret that West Australian players are something that’s been attracted for us. We’ll continue to go down that road.

“There’s always room for free agents to add to our list if they fit the profile that we need.”

Bond believes being able to rebuild through the draft is the best way to turn a team around however.

“I’m really adamant that the draft is the foundation we need to get to, but with free agency and trying to build our list, that is massively important we’ll keep going into that bracket to do that,” he said.

Jeremy McGovern remains out of contract and former Port Adelaide midfielder Kane Cornes believes one of he or Andrew Gaff will leave West Coast at the end of the year.
