How the Crows can end up with a draft royal flush

2018-06-19T08:54+10:00

Adelaide could hold a draft royal flush if Rory Sloane and Mitch McGovern depart the club, which would rejuvenate the Crows’ young stocks.

Sloane is a restricted free agent at the end of the season, while SEN’s Sam McClure is reporting McGovern will break his contract and ask for a trade.

If both players leave, Adelaide could be compensated with a slew of selections in 2018’s super draft.

SEN Breakfast with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson can be heard Monday-Friday 6-9am, and you can subscribe to the podcast here.

“Adelaide, and we had a look at this On The Couch last night, this year as it sits right now, they will have pick eight, Melbourne’s first round pick because of Jake Lever which currently sits at 15 and they have Carlton’s round two pick, which is 19,” Melbourne champion Garry Lyon told SEN Breakfast.

“Just say, this is the hypothetical, they go ok, we are going to let Sloane go but trade hard and get the compo pick for him. Then McGovern comes into the mix as well.

“They could potentially end up with eight, nine, 11, 16 and 20. That’s assuming McGovern and Sloane are worth first rounders.”

Prominent AFL player agent Liam Pickering said if that situation occurred, the Crows would have multiple trade options.

“This is a good draft to have those picks and with the South Australian connection, you might want to turn two of those picks into the number one pick, which would be Jack Lukosius,” he said.
