Collingwood star Adam Treloar has been ruled out until late August after injuring both of his hamstrings in his side’s victory over Carlton at the MCG on Sunday.
The club’s General Manager of Football, Geoff Walsh, confirmed the unfortunate news this afternoon.
“Adam stumbled, his left leg locked and before he tumbled to the ground his left leg stretched beyond its limit,” Walsh told Collingwood’s official website.
“It seems that he strained his right leg on the way down as he tried to compensate for the force pushing through his left.”
In the final quarter incident, Treloar suffered tendon damage to his left hamstring and a strain of his right hamstring simultaneously.
“It is certainly highly unusual, to injure both hamstrings at once,” Walsh said.
“No-one can recall it happening before in football.
“Still, Adam is a fantastic professional and we have no doubt that he will commit himself to the most thorough recovery possible.
“As to what the immediate future holds, we’ll know more after the surgery and his rehabilitation begins.”
Treloar is expected to undergo surgery to repair the tendon damage later this week.
