Taylor vital to Cats’ forward line says Frawley

2018-07-06T07:34+10:00

Former St Kilda captain Danny Frawley says Harry Taylor is playing a vital role in Geelong’s forward line, one that opposition defences must respect.

Despite amassing just 11 disposals against Sydney, Taylor was at least able to kick the game-sealing goal late in the fourth quarter, and his positioning deep in the forward half enables Tom Hawkins to enjoy free space further up the ground, according to Frawley.

“Leave Harry Taylor alone inside the forward 50 at your own peril because he can take a catch and he is normally a very good set shot,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“He has kicked a couple bags of six. Leave Harry alone and double-team Hawkins at your own peril.

“Sydney don’t do that, they traditionally play you on the back shoulder, and that’s why Hawkins, he wasn’t BOG because of his goal kicking unfortunately, but he was the most dominant player on the ground because he provided a contest down on the logo.

“Harry brought the ball to the ground probably six or seven times where they got some scoring shots.”

Frawley also believes it gives coach Chris Scott a luxury once Lachie Henderson is declared fit to return to senior football, as the swingman can play at either end of the field.

Geelong will look to continue their winning ways in Adelaide against the Crows next Thursday night.
