Former Essendon captain Tim Watson says the vision of West Coast Eagles Integrity Services Manager Peter Staples pushing a cameraman is embarrassing for the club.
Footage emerged yesterday of Staples physically moving a cameraman away from a vehicle that injured ruckman Nic Naitanui was entering at Perth Airport, an incident which Watson couldn’t believe.
“I reckon this is one of the more embarrassing things I’ve seen a football club be part of this year,” he told SEN Breakfast.
“In this environment, I would have thought there would have been a bit more respect between club and media, particularly from the club.
SEN Breakfast with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson can be heard Monday-Friday 6-9am, and you can subscribe to the podcast here.
“The understanding from the club’s perspective that cameramen have a right to be at certain places.
“It’s a public space.”
According to SEN Time On host Sam McClure, Staples has apologised to West Coast CEO Trevor Nisbett.
The Eagles confirmed last night Naitanui has suffered another ACL tear and will miss 12 months of football.
