Rehn provides update on concussed Power star Robbie Gray

2018-07-16T17:27+10:00

SEN South Australian correspondent Tom Rehn says Robbie Gray is unlikely to recover in time for this Sunday’s clash against GWS after injuring his head following a dangerous tackle from Fremantle’s Ryan Nyhuis.

Gray was stretchered from the field after sustaining a serious concussion when slamming his head into the turf courtesy of Nyhuis’ sling tackle during the third quarter in the Powers defeat to the Dockers at Optus Stadium.

With ruckman Paddy Ryder set to miss the next two weeks after injuring his hip flexor, Power coach Ken Hinkley will have to shuffle his pack ahead of this weekend’s vital match against the in-form Giants.

“He’s groggy, I think he’s doubtful for this week,” Rehn told SEN’s KB and The Doc.

“It’s unlikely (he’ll play) given that it’s a Sunday game. He has got the seven-day break, they play in the same timeslot next weekend.

“I think it’s probably more unlikely than likely.

“That was a catastrophic loss yesterday, coupled with the injuries.

“That was an awful game to watch and it’s been coming for quite some time. The way they’ve won has been ugly: St Kilda was ugly, Carlton the week before wasn’t brilliant and this was the worst of the lot.

“With those injuries to Gray and Paddy Ryder for at least a fortnight, that’s huge for them.”
