The changes that could be coming at Blues according to McClure

2018-07-17T07:50+10:00

SEN Time On host Sam McClure says there will be more change at Carlton this year.

Head of Football Andrew McKay has already announced he will be departing the club at the end of this season, with McClure mentioning some names from across the competition that could replace him.

SOS SLAMS TRIGG REPORTS

“There is going to be a lot of change at the Carlton footy club,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“The reality is there is more change afoot at Carlton.

“We know they’re going to have a new head of football with Andrew McKay and the club parting ways.

"Josh Mahoney (Melbourne football manager) has been mentioned several times and I also think Brad Lloyd is a really big chance, who is the current list manager at Fremantle.”

McClure also explored the assistant coaches at the Blues, naming three members of the coaching staff he thinks won’t be there in 2019.

He named West Coast assistant Sam Mitchell as a potential candidate to join Brendon Bolton’s team.

“The assistant coaching ranks is the one no one is talking about,” McClure said.

“I think there are three people there working under Brendon Bolton at the moment who won’t be there next year – John Barker, Tim Clarke and Dale Amos.

“I don’t think those three will be there and I think Brendon Bolton will try to bring in more of his own assistant coaches.

“The one I keep coming back to is Sam Mitchell. It makes sense. They’ve got a relationship already. He is contracted at West Coast for two more seasons.”
