Former Western Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy has declared the Brisbane Lions will be knocking on the door of finals next year.

The Lions have won three games in a row, with their young list displaying their talent and potential to the competition.

According to Murphy, one attribute has helped Brisbane gain an immense amount of confidence and secure victories.

“We talk so much about resilience in footy and I think resilience is often aligned to the dour, stoic style of thing,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“The physicality of the sport and the attrition.

“The resilience of that young group to keep playing on through the middle of the ground, despite having won only a few games, I think that’s the Chris Fagan plan.

“You watch them play, every time they get the ball, they immediately look for the corridor.

“A guy like Cam Rayner, who is in his first year, he turns and just goes up the middle of the ground.

“The resilience of that group, having not won many games this year but to stick to that plan, they’re fully invested and have a really unique little team spirit going on.”
