WATCH: Cahill’s finest moments in a Socceroos shirt

2018-07-17T15:30+10:00

Tim Cahill today ended his tenure with the Australian national team by announcing his retirement from international football.

The 38-year-old finishes his time with the Socceroos as the nation’s all-time leading scorer with 50 goals from 107 international appearances, including five in four World Cups.

Upon his decision to call time on his playing days with the Socceroos, we felt it apt to pick out some his finest moments on the pitch on the international stage.

We kick off with Cahill’s unforgettable volley, and his best overall goal at both club and country level, at the 2014 World Cup against Holland.

Then the stunning double to down Japan as the Aussies announced themselves to the world in Germany in 2006.

There was a customary header at South Africa 2010 versus Serbia.

And more of the same to give some hope against Chile at Brazil 2014.

The Socceroos were a goal down when Cahill struck in the eventual 4-1 win over Kuwait at the 2015 Asian Cup.

Even at 35, he could produce acrobatics like this brilliant bicycle in the Asian Cup quarter-final against China. (He scored a brace to see us through to the semi-finals!)

And his 50th and final goal in the green and gold to send the Socceroos to the Russia 2018 World Cup finals.

Thanks for the memories Timmy!
