Could St Kilda’s Jade Gresham be the next superstar of the competition? One of his fellow forward line teammates thinks he might just be.
Gresham has kicked 28 goals this year, including the winner up at Metricon Stadium against Gold Coast.
Injured Saints forward Josh Bruce has compared him to some big names.
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on the kid because he’s young, but he’s starting his career off like a Robbie Gray or even a Gary Ablett,” he told the AFL Nation pregame show.
“He's just an elite, elite small forward. He hasn’t got the tank yet, but you never know (if he could go into the midfield).
“In three or four years, you never know what he could become."
St Kilda smashed Richmond last year by 67 points, just before the Tigers went on their famous late-season run which ended with winning the flag.
Bruce said that win and their performance against them earlier in the year gives them confidence they can cause the upset of the season tonight.
“It gives us great belief though and we know we can beat them and we had a look during the week of the footage of us three goals up at the MCG only six weeks ago and we let it slip,” he said.
“We think our brand of footy holds up really well against them.
“I think it’s potentially playing a little bit on Richmond’s mind, I mean, they won the flag so they’re probably not too worried though.”
