Power will 'go hard' for Eagles ruckman Lycett

2018-07-25T11:51+10:00

SEN Adelaide correspondent Tom Rehn believes Port Adelaide will ‘go hard’ to sign West Coast ruckman Scott Lycett in the offseason.

Lycett is a restricted free agent and will have a number of suitors battling for his signature.

While Port have an All-Australian calibre ruckman in Paddy Ryder, Rehn believes his injury history, along with the fact that Lycett is from South Australia, will lead to Port Adelaide doing whatever they can to sign him.

SEN’s The Sporting Capital with Jack Heverin can be heard Monday-Thursday 7pm-12am, and you can subscribe to the podcast here

“They’re using Charlie Dixon in the ruck but then they’ve got nothing up forward to kick to so that’s a real source of frustration,” Rehn told SEN’s The Sporting Capital.

“They’ve got to chase a recognised ruckman in a big way.

“I think they’ll go very hard, and it’s a good time to be coming out of contract if you’re Scott Lycett.

“SA boy, grew up as a Port Adelaide boy, I think they’ll go in a big way for Scott Lycett in the offseason.

“Port have got a very very good ruckman in Ryder, and if he plays every game, fine, but it’s probably not feasible.

“His body has got a history of wearing down, so I think if they want to get two or three years out of Ryder, realistically you probably only aim for 15 to 18 games per season otherwise you might just cook him.”
