Wallace “worried” about Saints veteran Armitage

2018-07-26T19:15+10:00

AFL great Terry Wallace says he is “worried” about the playing future of St Kilda veteran David Armitage.

Armitage was dropped from this weekend’s match against Greater Western Sydney despite averaging almost 26 disposals a game over the last month, including a three-goal, 30-possession game against Port Adelaide in Round 16.

The midfielder still has a year remaining on his current contract, but considering his age and his injury history, this recent omission doesn't bode well for the 30-year-old according to Wallace.

“I’m really worried about David Armitage,” the former Western Bulldogs and Richmond coach said on SEN's The Match Committee.

“When you’re ageing and you’re going out of the side at Round 19 with only a month of football left to play, it’s not a great sign, is it?

“No one’s having a go at him, but the signs are a little bit damaging from that point of view.”

Taken at pick nine in the 2006 draft, Armitage has played 163 games for the red, white and black, booting 98 goals.

St Kilda face the daunting task of travelling to Spotless Stadium to take on the in-form GWS at 4:35pm AEST on Saturday.
