De Goey could miss rest of the season says Watson

Jordan De Goey’s lower leg injury may be much worse than what the Pies initially thought.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley originally said the “bone stress” injury would see the forward on the sideline for two weeks, but Tim Watson is worried he might be done for the year.

“I don’t know what you’re hearing about Jordan De Goey, but it seems to me that it’s very optimistic that he’ll be back in a couple of weeks,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.

“I was told it was very, very similar to Nathan Fyfe’s, where it started out as a hairline and it may be a crack now.

“If that’s the case, it may be very doubtful that we’ll see him again this year.”

Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon wonders what the breaking point is for the Pies.

“Collingwood has been great at covering their injury losses, they're fighting a really good fight, but I wonder at some stage whether it's going to hit them hard,” he said.

Matt Scharenberg suffered a suspected ACL injury during the loss to Richmond and Jamie Elliott re-injured his hamstring in the VFL to add to their massive injury list.
