Hawthorn midfielder Jaeger O’Meara says you can’t compare his departure from the Gold Coast Suns and Tom Lynch’s current situation.
Lynch announced yesterday his intentions to leave the Suns, following in O’Meara’s footsteps (the gun midfielder departed Gold Coast in 2016).

It was suggested yesterday Lynch wasn’t clapped by his teammates when he informed them about his intentions to leave, while O’Meara was clapped.
Even though O’Meara couldn’t confirm that claim, he did explain how it’s hard to draw parallels between his situation and Lynch’s.

“They’re completely different circumstances,” O’Meara told SEN Breakfast.
“I wouldn’t say mine was too smooth, it ended pretty sourly unfortunately. There was some stuff going on but I’ve moved on from that.
“I know Tom’s a really honest guy so he would have wanted to be up front and honest about everything and he’s done that.
“He has been told that he has to relinquish the captaincy and all that kind of stuff, and I wish him all the best.
“I think if the system allows it, with free agency then it’s going to happen, and if the system doesn’t allow it then it won’t happen, but I think free agency is a good thing.
“I actually can’t remember if they clapped or not, it was a blur.”
