Australian Football Hall of Famer Terry Wallace believes Collingwood would be the best fit for departing Gold Coast forward Tom Lynch.
The Suns announced that Lynch will be leaving the club at the end of the season to return to Victoria and likely join either of Magpies or reigning premiers Richmond.
Wallace has explained why he thinks the 25-year-old will be better suited joining the Pies.
“I always had the sense that it seemed like it was pushing Richmond’s way,” he told The Match Committee.
“Which one do I think is a better fit for him? I think probably Collingwood, and I’m only saying that because of the fact that Richmond potentially could have two premierships in the bank by the time he turns up.
“To me, that’s always a difficult scenario for a high-ended player to come into, that if they don’t as well as what they have been doing – in other words, that’s premiership material.
“If they don’t do that well, people sort of say well this hasn’t worked.
“There’s no upside and I still think there’s upside to what Collingwood are building.”
Lynch has met twice with Collingwod in the space of week, with Pies coach Nathan Buckley revealing he has spoken to the player.
