St Kilda Head of Football provides update on two trade targets

2018-08-10T18:38+10:00

St Kilda General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean confirms his club has spoken to Sydney midfielder Dan Hannebery’s manager.

Hannebery, contracted through to the end of 2021 with the Swans, has been linked with a fresh start and a move out of the club and the Saints have been put up as a likely suitor.

“Dan’s a person I know pretty well so I’m able to have frank conversations with him at the right time,” Lethlean told the AFL Nation pregame show.

“He’ll need, and the Swans will need, to be prepared to leave his club and if we get any indication that he is, we’ll certainly talk to him.

“We’ll have to do strong due diligence on his medical fitness, he’ll want to do strong due diligence about our fitness as a club to cater for him and for him to play here. We’d be keen to talk to him if he’s going to leave Sydney.

“I’ve certainly spoken to his management. We certainly approached Tom Harley to have that discussion before we would talk any player as I would hope other clubs would do with us.”

Another player linked to St Kilda is out-of-contract Eagles ruckman Scott Lycett and Lethlean said he’d certainly entertain that possibility.

“If a Scott Lycett wanted to move clubs, we’d certainly talk to him because we like to get better in all parts of the ground,” he said.

The Saints General Manager will also look at potentially bringing in a veteran to help lead the side in a similar vein to what Brisbane has done with Luke Hodge.

“If there was another Luke Hodge type around, we’d certainly talk to them, I like the model,” Lethlean said.
