Carlton ruckman Kreuzer ruled out for season with heart condition

2018-08-12T15:18+10:00

Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer has experienced a second elevated heart rate and has been withdrawn from today’s clash with Fremantle.

Kreuzer has missed time this year already after the heart condition was detected during a game.

The Blues have now ruled the ruckman out for the remainder of the season.

Carlton Head of Football Andy McKay explained the situation.

"Matthew experienced an elevated heart rate at training yesterday, a similar occurrence to what he dealt with a number of weeks ago," McKay told the Carlton website.

"Clearly with a condition of this nature, we need to treat it with caution so in conjunction with the specialists and Matthew, we have decided to rule him out for the remainder of the season.

"He will see the cardiologist again this week to determine the next step in his treatment.

Importantly, Matthew is OK and all parties are treating this situation with the utmost care."

Nick Graham will replace Kreuzer in their line-up for today’s game.

Bailey Banfield is a late out for the Dockers, replaced by Shane Kersten
