Casper Ware and Josh Boone, two pillars of Melbourne United’s 2017/18 NBL championship team, have re-signed with the club for the upcoming campaign.

The import duo were both named to the NBL’s All-First Team last season, with Ware’s offensive creativity and Boone’s interior work key attributes to Dean Vickerman’s squad.

Ware averaged 19.3 points per game last season, while Boone led the NBL in rebounding, pulling down 9.4 per outing.

“It’s just great for the fans,” head coach Vickerman said in a statement.

“To have Casper and Josh back is not only good for the chemistry of this group, and the synergy that they’ve already had, but it’s great for the club.”

The coach also highlighted the importance behind Ware’s commitment.

“It was a waiting process to get him (Ware) back and what we learnt last year was that the wait was certainly worth it, and we feel exactly the same this year,” Vickerman said.

“It’s really hard to find a two-way player like Casper who is so good at the defensive end and can be so dynamic at the offensive end.”

The additions bolster an already impressive roster, with the likes of Chris Goulding and Mitch McCarron set to help Melbourne defend their crown.

United also announced Sam McDaniel, son of NBL great Wayne, has signed a development contract with the club.
