Report: West Coast preparing shock bid for Fremantle veteran

2018-08-15T07:45+10:00

The West Coast Eagles are reportedly preparing a shock move for Fremantle’s Aaron Sandilands.

The Australian’s senior sports writer, Greg Denham, understands that the Eagles are continuing to look at a ruckman to replace Nic Naitanui, who is set to miss another 12 months with a serious knee injury.

The report suggests that West Coast could launch an “audacious bid” for 35-year-old Dockers veteran Sandilands, who has experienced injury issues of his own in season 2018.

West Coast’s potential shock move comes on the back of reports that Scott Lycett is being chased by several clubs, including St Kilda and Port Adelaide, as he seeks an opportunity to become a club’s number one big man.

It is believed that the Eagles have held “informal talks” within the club regarding Sandilands and would be “open to dialogue” with his manager Colin Young.

Sandilands, who has played just 11 games this year for a career total of 265, becomes an unrestricted free agent when he comes out of contract with Fremantle at the end of the season.
