Talented Collingwood forward undergoes surgery, won't train until 2019

2018-08-14T18:30+10:00

Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott has been ruled out of taking any further part in the Magpies' 2018 campaign, having undergone surgery on his injured hamstring.

Elliott has not played a senior match in 2018, with the talented number 5 attempting to return through the VFL but suffering further injuries each time.

"Jamie had surgery today on the hamstring he injured," said Collingwood football manager Geoff Walsh.

"We won't see Jamie for the rest of the year."

The exciting 89-game, 138-goal forward will now miss what appears to be the first finals series for the Pies in several years, returning to training at some time in 2019.

"We thought it's probably wisest to tip him out of training right now, get it fixed and undergo a long, steady rehab process," said Walsh.
