Cloke would love to see Beams back at Collingwood

2018-08-16T09:00+10:00

Travis Cloke admits he would like to see Dayne Beams back at Collingwood.

The Brisbane midfielder left the Magpies after the 2014 season to be closer to his dad, Philip, who sadly passed away in March this year.

There has been speculation in recent times indicating Beams could quite possibly return to Melbourne next year, something his 2010 premiership teammate Cloke would like to see.

“I do talk to Beamsy here and there,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“He’s a good friend and obviously part of our (Collingwood) premiership but the reason he moved back to Brissie, back home, was for his father.

“Obviously the passing of his father has been very hard on himself, his partner and his family.

“Kelly, his wife, she’s a Melbourne girl and they’ve got two young kids.

“Is that a drawing factor to come back to Melbourne for her to help out and also for a support system for him?

“Maybe. I’m not too sure, but it is going to be an interesting October.

“He’s playing really good football and showing why he is a leader.

“I would like to see him back in the black and white at the Pies. I don’t think that will happen but we will wait and see.”

Beams is contracted with the Lions until the end of 2020 but his name remains enveloped in transfer talk as the October trade period draws closer.
