Key Channel Nine executive Ian Paterson has explained the process behind securing a TV deal with the NBL.

It was announced today that Nine will broadcast the NBL for the next three years, with the network to broadcast two games per round on 9GO! this season.

Paterson says conversations between the two parties have been ongoing for some time, and expressed his excitement after finalising the deal.

KESTELMAN EXPLAINS HOW IMPORTANT NBL/CHANNEL NINE TV DEAL IS

“It started a little bit earlier this year, we had a couple of Larry’s (Kestelman) guys, along with Larry, come forward to have a chat,” Paterson told SEN Mornings.

“We have been really keeping an eye on the way the NBL has been progressing, we have seen the work Larry and the guys have done, which has been impressive.

“Once we had settled on an arrangement with Tennis Australia, we identified some time to get behind another sport, we thought let’s see if we can crack a deal with the guys.

“It’s a really exciting day for Nine and we are looking forward to these next three years of partnership with Larry and the NBL.”
