Has Melbourne entered a "perfect" storm to finish with two massive wins?

2018-08-17T18:58+10:00

Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon is confident his old side will end their streak of losses against top eight teams this Sunday against West Coast.

He believes all the elements are lined up for the Dees and has put it on them to simply get it done.

“It’s perfect for them. Go back over to (Perth), go over to the place where they broke their hoodoo last year when no one thought they could win,” Lyon told the AFL Nation pregame show.

“Go over there now, there’s a lot riding on it, it’s the venue where you got your hearts broken last year. All of those things thrown into their melting pot and do it.

“I’m bullish on the Demons on Sunday. Then they’ll come back here and beat the Giants at the MCG (they'll finish) top four.

“I’ve full-circled it. It would not surprise me one bit.”

Lyon criticised the “fragility” of the club earlier in the week and believes the pressure is on them to get the win that ends the debate.

“I think the point that 17 out of 20 games they’ve been in it up to their eyeballs is a good point, but until such time as they win one, they’re going to have to cop it and wear the criticism,” he said.

“Every big test they’ve come up against this year against quality opposition, they haven’t been able to handle the occasion.”

Melbourne will face West Coast on Sunday afternoon at Optus Stadium.
