Wallace: Collingwood can make the Grand Final

2018-08-19T12:59+10:00

AFL Hall of Famer Terry Wallace has come around to the possibility of Collingwood making it to the last day in September.

The Pies are now in the box seat for a top four finish after yesterday’s massive win over Port Adelaide.

The game was even early in the second half, before Collingwood went on a 51-0 run and blew the game open.

“I thought they were brilliant yesterday. They were absolutely brilliant,” Wallace told the AFL Nation pregame show.

“They’re getting really good performances from everyone. One week you’ll go along there and it’s Josh Thomas who plays a fantastic game and the next week it’s Will Hoskin-Elliott, yesterday it was Brayden Maynard.

“I watched the game late last night and I went to bed going, hey, they can make the Grand Final.

“I’ve never thought that so far this year. Not has there been one stage where I’ve thought that.

“I’ve thought they were going nicely, a little bit of they’ve only beaten Melbourne inside the top eight and all that sort of stuff, but if you watch their intensity levels yesterday, it doesn’t mean they will make the Grand Final, but if it drops the right way, they potentially could.”

Collingwood will play Fremantle next week at Optus Stadium and a win could see them finish as high as second if results fall their way.
