Former AFL club captains Tim Watson and Garry Lyon say Adam Treloar’s looming finals return would be a huge boost for Collingwood.
Treloar’s 2018 campaign seemed over when he suffered a serious hamstring injury in Round 14.
However, he has worked himself back into training and is aiming to be on the field in the first week of the finals.
“What sort of a shot in the arm is that for Collingwood going into the finals,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.
“That must elevate them, with him back in that midfield, they’re going to seriously challenge Richmond.
“They can definitely win the flag.”
SEN Breakfast with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson can be heard Monday-Friday 6-9am, and you can subscribe to the podcast here.
Lyon agreed with Watson, saying how the pre-finals bye provides Treloar with another vital week of preparation in the lead-up to September.
“This has snuck up on me, Adam Treloar has been given the green light to resume training at Collingwood,” Lyon said.
“He has two and a half more weeks of training to get himself right for the first final.
“It’s a huge shot in the arm.”
