North CEO confirms Roos’ aggressive trade approach

2018-08-23T18:03+10:00

North Melbourne CEO Carl Dilena says the club has no problems in declaring their aggressiveness in the player movement market.

The Kangaroos have made big offers to the likes of Dustin Martin, Josh Kelly and Jordan De Goey in the past couple seasons, and have been linked to Jared Polec and Andrew Gaff this year.

Dilena believes North’s persistent attitude in the trade period is the only way to improve in such a competitive space.

“You have to be aggressive in the marketplace,” he told SEN’s KB and The Doc.

“It is tougher if you’re down the rungs a bit on the ladder because I don’t think free agents have gone to any club below 12th on the ladder.

“You need to be aggressive in the marketplace, you need to get out there.

“I think things are changing, people see how we have progressed this year compared to perhaps where we were perceived last year, I think that’s a really positive sign.

“You got to be in it to have a crack, you can’t just sit and hope people come to you.

“We are pretty open, we are in the market and looking to improve.”
