North Melbourne football boss Cameron Joyce says Port Adelaide wingman Jared Polec hasn’t given any indication that he will be joining the club during this year’s trade period.
Polec has a reported five-year $700,000 offer on the table from the Kangaroos, with Power GM Chris Davies telling media today that the deal presented by the Roos would be too big for him to pass up and the longer this drags on the more likely he is to leave.
Joyce says the 25-year-old hasn’t categorically stated where he plans on playing his football in 2019.
PORT ADELAIDE ADDRESSES WINGARD, POLEC TRANSFER RUMOURS
“We certainly haven’t been legitimately told by Jared or his manager that he wants to come and play with North Melbourne,” Joyce told SEN’s Time On.
“In terms of the trade period we’re still five weeks away from that happening.
“That’s probably the same situation we’re in with other players at the moment, so we’re going to have to wait unfortunately.
“We’re not trying to put cold water on it by any means, but it’s never done until it’s done.”
Polec enjoyed an excellent 2018 season for Port, averaging 25.1 disposals per game and was rated as the third highest player in the competition for metres gained.
