The St Kilda Football Club has announced the appointment of Brett Ratten as assistant coach.

The former Carlton coach has signed a deal with the Saints which will begin after he completes his 2018 duties with Hawthorn.

Ratten joins former Port Adelaide and Richmond assistant Brendon Lade as new additions to the Saints’ coaching staff to work alongside Alan Richardson in 2019.

“Brett is one of the most experienced assistant coaches in the game and we look forward to the impact he can have on our football program,” General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean said.

“He is highly regarded across the football industry and as midfield coach at the Hawks, was a key driver in their premiership success.”

Ratten has been with the Hawks as an assistant under Alastair Clarkson since 2013 following his six-year stint as Blues head coach.
