Luke Dahlhaus has offically informed the Western Bulldogs he will be departing the club, according to the club's website.

Dahlhaus, who has been heavily linked to Geelong will move on from the club and try his hand at free agency.

The Dogs made this statement:

"While the Club is obviously disappointed an agreement could not be reached, the Club maintains an obligation to be balanced in its approach across its entire playing group when making its list management decisions."

"The Club wishes to thank Luke for his eight years of wonderful service, including 154 games and his contribution to the Club’s 2016 Premiership. We wish Luke well for the remainder of his career."

1116 SEN's Sam McClure has reported on his show Time On that the Western Bulldogs star forward Luke Dahlhaus has told his current club he will be open to moving clubs.

According to McClure, Dahlhaus told coach Luke Beveridge that he will be fielding offers from opposition clubs.

"He has been offered a four year deal at more than half a million dollars at Geelong," said McClure.

"The Bulldogs have had a three year offer in front of him for almost three months.

"It doesn't look like he'll be coming back to the Western Bulldogs, it looks like he is on his way to Geelong."

"I'm a little confused on this one. I'm a big Luke Dahlhaus fan. I thought that when he was playing for the Western Bulldogs in 2016 and they were playing good footy, he was as good a player as you could find, in form.

"At his age, I think he's just turned 26, I'm a big Luke Dahlhaus fan."

If a deal can be done, Dahlhaus would add speed, toughness and goal-kicking nouse to an already potent Geelong forward-line.
