Could Sydney have a shock team inclusion tonight?

2018-09-06T08:44+10:00

Sydney Chief Executive Tom Harley has revealed forward Sam Reid is a chance to make a shock return for the Elimination Final clash with GWS.

Reid has missed most of 2018 with Achilles and quad injuries which have restricted him to just one game this year but could get up for Saturday's do-or-die encounter at the SCG.

“There’s every chance Reid is available this week and once he’s in the scope, the door is open for him to play senior footy,” Harley told SEN Breakfast.

“He’s a chance, he trained on Tuesday and he’ll go again today. He’s cutting it fine, there’s no doubt about that.

“As far as where he would play, that’s up for debate, he’s got to get through today and then we’d look at the scope of the team. It would be huge for us to get him up.”

Sydney’s NEAFL team is still alive and Reid could potentially make the return via the state league.

Harley also confirmed Lance Franklin and Luke Parker will line up on Saturday with the week off proving hugely beneficial.

“The fact we’ve had the bye means you can make it work for each individual. We’ve done that with Lance.

“(Parker’s) in the same boat as Lance so he’s right to go. He trained fully on Tuesday, he’ll do the same again today.

“The reality is the week off before the finals was important. They both would’ve been touch and go, but given we’ve been able to maximise their rehab and then training this week, we’ve benefited from the week off and I’m sure the Giants have as well.”
