Saints confirm Hannebery’s trade request

2018-09-12T18:04+10:00

St Kilda has confirmed its desire to secure the services of Sydney midfielder Dan Hannebery during the upcoming trade period.

Hannebery notified the Swans of wish to move to Moorabbin after playing 208 games and featuring in the club’s 2012 premiership.

Saints GM Simon Lethlean says the club will now work with Sydney in finalising a deal that suits both parties, and is confident the 27-year-old still has plenty to give.

“We believe Dan has the capacity to be an extremely influential player for us at the Saints,” Lethlean told saints.com.au.

“Dan is a highly credentialed premiership player with significant finals experience.

“He is also hugely respected for the standards he sets on the track and has been an important leader at the Swans for many years.

“All of these attributes are really appealing to us and would add to our group.

“We will be really thorough in our due diligence and make sure the appropriate medical screenings are completed.”

“We also have to work through what a possible trade looks like with the Sydney Swans and ensure it is the right deal for St Kilda.

“The AFL trade Period doesn’t begin until Monday 8 October, so there is still a long way to go.”
