The Stork's tips for Flemington, Randwick and more

2018-09-14T16:30+10:00

SEN's The Stork has had a lovely week with the weather putting a smile on his dial.

This weekend, The Stork takes a look at Flemington, Randwick and Morphettville as he strives to bring you some luck on the punt.

Let’s have a bit of fun, but The Stork wants you to gamble responsibly!

And if you are awake early on a Saturday morning, like The Stork is, tune in for all the latest racing news from The Odds Couple__ from 8am until 9am on 1116SEN.__

Review of last week

Naantali was extremely disappointing in the first at The Valley before Hartnell failed, finishing fourth in a Group 2 race won by Magic Consol which is the only quaddie leg we didn’t land.

Divine Unicorn also finished fourth, just out of the money, Kinky Boom was bang average and Yogi was impressive with a fast-finishing second ($2.30). He is racing well this campaign and certainly a horse The Stork is going to follow!

Our best bets in Sydney are now three from three. Last week it was Soothing who avoided a drift and ended up winning at the extremely backable odds of $3. The Stork hopes you had a fill up with her.

Long Leaf wasn’t very good and the quaddie was done when Lean Mean Machine spoiled the party in the first leg.

Montauk ran about as expected at Doomben, grabbing third, but a couple of key scratchings saw his price turn all the way in to $1.70 the place.

Freehearted had every chance in Adelaide but lacked a decent finishing burst and was unplaced.

FLEMINGTON

BEST

The super impressive Furrion goes around in the last at headquarters and should be winning.

Is definitely short enough but won like a very good horse last start and big things are expected.

The scratching of Waging War has heightened The Stork's interest in Theanswermyfriend. The Stork thinks now the in-form Weir galloper will get things on his terms and should be winning.

Recommendation: Back Furrion to WIN. Back Theanswermyfriend to WIN.

VALUE

In Race 4, there’s some good value about Qafila. A bit of a non-winner (1 from 6 starts) but at Caulfield on August 18 she was terrific, finishing on the heels of Thrillster and Humma Humma who since quinellaed at The Valley.

Brutal will be hard to beat but the $13 on offer for Qafila looks tempting indeed.

The Stork will also be having a little each-way wager on Mrs Gardenia in Race 6. Around $12 on offer.

Recommendation: Back Qafila EACH-WAY (Perhaps more on the place for Qafila). Back Mrs Gardenia EAACH-WAY.

RANDWICK

BEST

The best bets in Sydney roll on and let’s go again with one late in the day.

Avilius (Race 8) is flying and will only improve at his third Australian run. The Stork is expecting the Godolphin gelding to get the job done despite the big field.

The Stork will also be backing the stablemate Trekking in Race 9 to finish the day off strongly.

Recommendation: Back Avilius to WIN. Back Trekking to WIN.

MORPHETTVILLE

BEST

Tamasa has been climbing over the back of those in front of him the last two starts.

Is short but with even luck will be blasting over the top of them in Race 5.

In the very next, Race 6, The Stork is sticking with Darren Weir and backing Astrological to get up at around $4.50.

Recommendation: Back Tamasa to WIN. Back Astrological to WIN. Double them up to both WIN at around $8.80.
