The “catastrophic” situation Port Adelaide could be facing

2018-09-17T17:06+10:00

SEN Adelaide correspondent Tom Rehn says it would be “catastrophic” if Port Adelaide lost Chad Wingard this offseason, along with Jared Polec.

Polec is apparently North Melbourne-bound, and trade rumours surrounding Wingard continue to swirl.

While admitting he thinks Wingard will be at the Power in 2019, Rehn believes his potential departure would cap off a poor year for Ken Hinkley’s men.

REPORT: PORT WILL LISTEN TO WINGARD TRADE OFFERS

“He (Wingard) still has a year to run, I still think he will stay there, but my inkling is the longer this goes, if a club comes to Port Adelaide with an unbelievable offer, just pie in the sky stuff here, I think they’re considering it,” Rehn told SEN’s KB and The Doc.

“I don’t think it will happen but I don’t think anything is off the table.

“That’s extraordinary. If they lost Chad Wingard and Jared Polec, I think that would be a catastrophic season.

“I don’t think it’s a fait accompli that he will be absolutely at Port, definitely beyond next year anyway.

“I still think he will be playing next year but it seems he is not an untouchable right now.”
