Garry Lyon says Richmond should send skipper Trent Cotchin to Collingwood’s Steele Sidebottom in Friday night’s Preliminary Final.
Sidebottom is a key cog in the Magpies’ midfield, and Lyon thinks the Tigers captain is the right man to curb his influence.

“I reckon Trent Cotchin has taken responsibility for big time players when it has been necessary and I think he might do it,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.
“That’s what he is. That’s what he has become. Cotchin has become the selfless, I will do what is best for the team player.

“His (Sidebottom’s) running patterns are such that he gets off the leash and ends up being the leading possession winner on the ground for Collingwood, as he has been for the last four matches, and he is the best ball user going around.
“You got to try and deny him some footy and Trent Cotchin can do that.
“That is the ultimate compliment I can pay Trent.”
Former Essendon captain Tim Watson said it would be an “extraordinary play” by Richmond if they send Cotchin to Sidebottom.
