What Dal Santo wants to see from Hannebery at St Kilda

2018-09-19T18:58+10:00

St Kilda champion Nick Dal Santo has approved his former club’s pursuit of Sydney midfielder Dan Hannebery.

Hannebery, 27, announced today that he is dealing exclusively with the Saints, after notifying the Swans of his desire to return to Victoria last week.

Dal Santo wants to see the premiership Swan lay down a marker at Moorabbin from a leadership perspective, and is confident his body can enable him to return to his best football, after struggling for form and fitness over the past couple of seasons.

“If the medical staff think they can get him back to roughly what he was two years ago, then I’m ok with that,” Dal Santo told SEN Afternoons.

“I think it’s a good move and I think it’s a move for the next four years, I don’t think he’s going to be part of a premiership era in regards to when the Saints might be able to get back and challenge.

“What I’d love to know about Dan is the leadership, the standards and the cultural things he can bring.

“We hear so much about ‘The Bloods’ culture and what they do up there. I’m a massive believer in leaving something for the next group to come through and be able to hang their hat on.

“I reckon that would be Dan’s number one priority.”
