Eagles have the game style to offset Demons says Pearce

2018-09-21T08:09+10:00

Daisy Pearce believes West Coast has the blueprint to potentially nullify Melbourne’s strengths in tomorrow’s Preliminary Final.

The Eagles game plan consists of denying the opponent the ball via short kicks and a slew of uncontested marks, a formula Garry Lyon noted saw them take down Richmond and Collingwood in the home-and-away campaign.

“They have played all year a game style that has the potential to offset Melbourne’s pressure and chaos game,” Pearce told SEN Breakfast.

“If they get on top in the way they want to play, it will deny Melbourne’s ability to pressure and harass and turn the game into a scrap.”

For the Dees to win, Lyon says they need to “get it (the ball) to ground at all costs”, as West Coast is ranked last in the AFL for ground-ball gets and 17th for loose-ball gets.
