Is third chance the charm for Barlow?

2018-09-23T11:00+10:00

Delisted Gold Coast midfielder Michael Barlow believes his leadership and competitive instincts should see him get another chance on an AFL list.

Barlow, who was picked up by the Suns as a delisted free agent originally, is among those in the mix to get another chance via the same second (or third) chance system.

“I compete. I’ve always said I’m never going to be the most perfect guy with the ball, the knock on the speed’s always been there, but I’ve found a way to play 140 games,” Barlow told This is Your Sporting Life – for Tobin Brothers, celebrating lives every day.

“Being involved in that successful Freo period and learning off great leaders, playing and coaching, and I think my training standards have always been at a high level than some and if that rubs off on some, I felt it did at the Suns.

“You’ll cop a little bit with skill and speed, but playing footy and competing, that’s what I’ll bring.”

However, if Barlow isn’t picked up by another team, he said he’ll look back fondly on what he’s been able to accomplish, despite believing he still has petrol in the tank.

“I wouldn’t change much if anything and I’d feel like I could walk away proud of how I’ve held myself despite challenges and adversity,” Barlow said.
