Frawley expects tougher Eagles test for in-form Cox

2018-09-24T14:30+10:00

St Kilda great Danny Frawley expects the West Coast defence to provide a sterner test for in-form Collingwood forward Mason Cox in this Saturday's Grand Final.

Cox, 27, took eight contested marks and booted three goals against Richmond in a match-winning display in last Friday night’s Preliminary Final clash, helping the Magpies to a stunning 39-point win.

Frawley believes the Eagles’ back six – led by All-Australian centre half-back Jeremy McGovern - won’t allow the American to utilise his long reach by being able to run and jump at the ball.

“I don’t think he’s (Cox) going to get his own way this weekend with Jeremy McGovern,” Frawley told SEN Afternoons.

“Stay tuned for that, they aren’t going to allow him to run, jump and take the ball at its highest point.

“The work early off the ball is going to be a hell of a lot different and I think Jeremy McGovern might have something to say for that.”

Cox was successfully quelled by West Coast in their recent Qualifying Final encounter, limiting the Pie to just five disposals, no marks and no goals.
