Pies defence ready for Eagles’ attacking firepower: Langdon

2018-09-24T15:14+10:00

Collingwood defender Tom Langdon is confident the Magpies’ defensive framework can hold up against West Coast’s talent-laden forward line in Saturday’s Grand Final.

The Eagles have a slew of attacking options, led by the duo of Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling, and complemented by Mark LeCras, Jamie Cripps, Liam Ryan and Willie Rioli.

However, Langdon isn’t letting the big names on paper be intimidating to the Pies’ back line.

“We don’t get caught up too much on match-ups to be honest,” he told SEN Afternoons.

“We might briefly talk about it for five minutes but it’s sort of just playing in our layers, which is deep, middle and high back.

“It’s just whoever floats through those positions.

“Obviously West Coast has got a good forward line, as do most AFL teams, so I think we will just see what happens.

“It’ll be a good challenge and we are ready for it.”
