Carlton’s bid for a priority pick has been rejected by the AFL Commission, according to the Herald Sun.
Despite saying earlier in the year they didn’t want AFL assistance in the form of a priority pick, the Blues changed their public messaging as the campaign wore on.
It was expected they would receive a priority pick, but that hasn’t eventuated.
AFL.com.au is reporting Carlton and the Gold Coast Suns will be given outside national draft compensation, with access to state league players.
The report states the two clubs “will be able to recruit, or on-trade, the state league players without giving up a draft pick”.
In other Blues news, CEO Cain Liddle told SEN Time On host Sam McClure that a decision hasn’t been made on the club’s captaincy for next season, denying to confirm Patrick Cripps will take on the role.
Carlton won just two games this season, finishing on the bottom of the ladder.
