Has this Magpie’s currency increased after Grand Final performance?

2018-10-01T15:38+10:00

Out-of-contract Collingwood defender Tom Langdon turned heads in Saturday’s Grand Final with an outstanding performance against a potent West Coast attack.

Langdon was one of the Magpies’ best in their heartbreaking defeat to the Eagles, collecting 23 disposals and taking seven marks.

Host of SEN' Time On Sam McClure believes the 24-year-old’s value has increased following his Grand Final exploits.

“If you’re holding out for a bigger contract he would have walked into the rooms at the MCG at half-time with another $100,000 on his contract,” McClure told NAB AFL Trade Radio.

“He was the best player on the ground.”

St Kilda great Nick Dal Santo says the Pies must ensure they lock away Langdon to a new contract.

DID MAYNARD DESERVE A FREE KICK IN GRAND FINAL’S DYING MOMENTS?

“He (Langdon) was superb,” Dal Santo said.

“The Pies need to keep Langdon.

“When you look at what they need, their backline needs a little bit of stabilising.

“If you’re the Pies, I would have thought Langdon is one of your main priorities to stabilise that and maybe try and bring in some support for him.”

Langdon has played 80 games for the Pies since making his debut back in 2014.
