Report: Retired ruckman considering shock comeback

2018-10-03T16:57+10:00

Retired ruckman Shane Mumford is considering a shock comeback to AFL football, according to the Herald Sun.

The report by Sam Edmund states that the premiership Swan has emerged as a potential solution to solve GWS’ ruck quandary with Rory Lobb set to depart for either West Coast or Fremantle.

Mumford called time on his career at the end of the 2017 season after suffering a foot fracture in the Giants' Qualifying Final loss to Adelaide.

“No formal discussions have been held with GWS, but if Shane feels that he can play again he’ll consider it as an option,” Mumford’s agent, Anthony McConville, of Mac’s Sports Promotions said.

A source close to the 32-year-old revealed: “The fire is still there and his foot has come good."

Mumford played 172 games for Geelong, Sydney and the Giants.
